It sounds SOOOO DATED.Like some badboy rip off…10 years ago
Why use an instrumental if u have access to a studio and producers?
read the comments from the blogs when u pitch this…u’ll see
I really think your gonna be hot.
But this right here…aint it
Hey Invisibles! First I want to say thanks for coming to laneahworld and leaving your comment! Thats really important to me!! And thank you for your opinion! However, I do believe you misinterpreted what the song is. We actually were in the studio one night and Mary was saying how she loved the encore beat (and she during the heart of the city tour would often come up wit vocals over it) – We were working on Mary’s album at the time. We came up wit an idea to do a song over the beat if we had time after our session…. we finished the session (the song came out bananas by the way) and we decided to just write a song over Encore, for fun!
The song is a mixtape song…. a fun song….. it IS NOT MY FIRST SINGLE… IT IS NOT MIXED, there are no background, nor harmonies, nor any of the other spices people add to songs they intend to service to radio (which is why u were picking up “not professional”, and IT WILL NOT BE SERVICED AS AN official record.. It was solely meant for she and I to have fun).
I put the song on my website….. due to the overwhelming positive response of the song (the message of the song… im not sure if you listened to the words) – we got called to boston radio, where i am from, to play the song and have a brief interview bcuz people didnt even know i was signed or that Mary had a female artist signed to her label! And thats how the song gained popularity. Organically.
As for access to studio and producers… you are right when you say i have plenty access! I am in the studio working on my album as we speak. So far i have tracks from Will.I.Am, Rodney Jerkin, Ne-Yo, Range, Polow, and more. The album is coming out phenomenal.
‘Sreaming my name’ was an idea, we wrote the song the same night and we recorded it… it was fun.. and it was my expression of how it felt to grind in this industry and be turned away by many, but accepted by the 1 and only MJB… and how things turn around once people see you making moves…. its a feeling that many people go through in their career as well as in personal relationships… So, with that in mind, give the song another listen and you may grow a new respect for it… for what it is.
Do you remember when music was just that? Remember our music (urban music) comes from people singing on the street in groups to people rapping on the corners to people freestyling wit one mic, no studio!!
The feeling and sentiment of this song was meant to be raw like that… if you see the video it was not even meant to be a video, it is just behind the scenes stuff of me an average day at the studio…. We didnt plan it… it was organic.
THANK YOU AGAIN.. for your comments! And NO need to apologize. Constructive criticism can only make me better … and hey, who says everything is FOR everybody anyways?? SMILE** Stay tuned for my single coming soon!!
I like how Laneah handled that comment with poise and class. Theres two sides to the spectrum, invisibles has a point..I don’t agree that this WASN’T GOOD…I actually love this and I find it weird as hell that Mary’s favorite song from the Black Album is also one of mine (well one of 3). Anyway, “The Invisibles” brought up something valid, music is pretty much served to the consumers/listeners/general public thru blogs and websites (LaNeah world is proof of that) on a daily basis..hundreds of songs and video content is thrown up and the commentators either are usually ignorant haters OR level headed people being honest about what their feelings are to what they’re seeing.
That said, it IS a good launching pad to experiment. LaNeah (like all artists) is only good as her last work so if people don’t feel this too much it could be a bad start but me personally speaking, I feel this was dope as hell..I think she gave Mary a run for her money almost, I even told Mary’s step daughter that while I was listening..no offense MARY! lol It’s always good when the student surpasses the teacher…ON THIS particular track anyway.
As one of the biggest and rapidly upcoming blogs out now, I’m telling you first hand LaNeah you gotta get ready to have tough skin when it comes to comments, even though you handled yourself really well with this somewhat negative one..there are thousands and millions more to come. You just gotta remember at the end of the day, you’re an artist..for a bajillion years art has been misunderstood or misinterpreted by people but the masterpieces are still heralded to this day. Which means don’t feel obligated to defend or respond to everything said about you or your work.
I am screamin your name <3
everyone is screamin your name.. keep up the good work.. love
